Data that Proves Why GHS is Important

85 family members. 85 friends. 85 coworkers. The people they were, they will never be again. These 85 workers make up the preventable fatalities that could have been avoided with proper chemical safety procedures in place in 2014 and are accompanied by over 600 more serious injuries.

Within the 228 separate incidents that were documented the industries of where these lives were taken, run the spectrum including: mining, food processing, biotechnology, production and oil and gas exploration.

Explosions, fires, improper storage or usage are all chemical related incidents that can and will be reduced through the implementation of GHS.

OSHA estimates that the revised HCS standard to align with GHS will prevent 43 fatalities and 585 injuries and illnesses annually and provide net annualized savings of $754 million a year.
